One Year of Being an Aerialist and I’ve Discovered My Inner Strength
A story about outgrowing your fears, getting out of your comfort zone, and letting go.
It is incredible how things we expect the least to change our lives can change it completely.
Last year, I moved to the Netherlands and wished to try something new, entirely out of my comfort zone.
This is how I discovered the world of aerial art.
Being in the air for the first time
I wasn’t expecting much at the beginning. Just to have lots of fun.
Having my feet not touching the ground required strength and commitment, and I didn’t have much in the early days. Most of all, I was scared.
Not of the heights, not of the fall. I was scared that I would never be able to get to a level where I could be proud of myself.
Why?
Well, in my mind, I wasn’t made for this. I wasn’t flexible, hadn’t done anything similar before, and had almost zero gymnastics experience.
In reality, my ego was bigger than me.
I needed to humble it first and be open to starting from the beginning with something utterly unknown to me.
